Jamshedpur: After Yoga teacher, Rafia Naaz was threatened on Thursday, an angry mob on Friday pelted stones at her residence in Daronda, while she was giving an interview to India Today.
The ruckus was created after a local cleric watched the live telecast of her interview. The cleric allegedly got offended and reached at Rafia’s residence with a mob, that sloganeered and pelted stones, reported India Today.
Rafia was provided security by state government when she was being targeted for teaching yoga. Rafia had alleged that she was threatened on Facebook and then received a phone call, as such the police deployed bodyguards for the teacher.
Rafia said that a man identified as Faiz Ullah messaged her, saying “I am a well-wisher. You being a Muslim girl should be ashamed of yourself. How can you perform on the stage without hijab?”
Meanwhile, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev said: “From Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan to Saudi Arabia so many Muslims practice Yoga. It is an exercise which is good for mental and physical wellness, religion shouldn’t be brought into this.”
