Jharkhand: Fringe group attacks Muslim on suspicion of serving cow meat

Koderma: The RSS ideologies have vastly influenced many fringe groups who have yet again started their atrocities against the Muslim minority communities with the recent assault reported from Jharkhand where a 50-year-old Muslim man was badly injured by a mob on suspicion of serving banned meat at his son’s wedding.

A tailor by profession Jumman Miyan, from Nawadih village in Koderma district of Jharkhand, was injured by a fringe group on suspicion of serving banned meat at his son’s wedding reception on Monday, Indian Express reported.

Few people from the same village claim to have noticed banned animal parts the next morning and decided to take action against the family.

Though the group informed the Police, by the time the Police had arrived the spot, the mob group had already vandalized Jumman Miyan’s house, destroyed several vehicles, four wheelers, bikes, auto rikshaws parked in the street.

Though the Police tried to intervene the Domchanch Police could not stop the fringe group from assaulting the family.

Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been imposed in the area after arresting seven persons involved in the assault.

According to the officials, the situation in the area has become normal but the orders are still imposed as a precautionary step.

Not just Jumman Miyan’s house was vandalized by the fringe group but houses next to Jumman Miyan’s were also vandalized.

Several other Muslims in the area were also injured in the stone pelting by the mob who are undergoing treatment. The police had to use lathicharge to contain the situation.

Koderma SP Shivani Tewary and Deputy Commissioner Bhuvanesh Pratap Singh rushed to the assault site and stayed until the situation was brought under control.

Koderma SP Tewary said, “The situation has normalized since late last night. The person, who was referred to RIMS, has returned home. The mob had damaged some vehicles and resorted to vandalism.
We have, so far, arrested seven persons.”

The official also added the allegations made by the group are now investigated. “We have picked up some samples, including some hooves of an animal from the spot. A detailed examination is on.

Meanwhile, we are identifying people with the help of video and photographic evidence. Further investigations are on,” he said.
