Jet Airways may hike fares by 10-15% in April-June

Mumbai, April 09: Jet Airways may hike fares by 10 percent to 15 percent in the April to June quarter driven by a healthy load factor, and is also close to break-even on its US routes, an executive said Friday.

“The increase in fares will be driven by both passenger demand and an anticipated rise in fuel cost,” Raj Sivakumar, vice president, revenue management, told reporters on the sidelines of a conference. He didn’t elaborate on the U.S. routes.

India’s biggest airline by market share currently has a load factor of 80 percent on its overseas flights and 70 percent on its local flights, Sivakumar said.

He added that Jet Konnect–one of the company’s low-cost carrier brands–currently accounts for 70 percent of flights and its share will go up to 75 percent in the coming few months.
