Jet Airways ground staff oppose pilots approach

Chandigarh, September 10: Urging protesting pilots to return to work, the ground staff of Jet Airways at the Civil Airport here today opposed the approach of men behind machine in resorting to striking work and asked them to put their grievances before the management through a proper manner.

“Just due to handfull of people the entire staff of Jet Airways is suffering. The pilots should return to work and put their grievances before the management in a proper manner rather than resorting to methods like strike,” Mansi, a ground support services staff member of Jet Airways at the civil airport here told reporters.

“The strike should end and we want to see Jet airways flying,” she said.

There are at least 55 ground services staff members of the Jet airways at the civil airport here.

Apprehending that their livelihood will be in danger if strike continues, station manager Abid Hussain said that “with no work it will be difficult for us to re-pay the loans which have been availed by us for various purposes.”

“We are like a family in the Jet airways and pilots should think about other staff as well,” he said.

“They (pilots) must get back to job immediately…we are not happy with the strike by pilots,” he said while appealing the striking pilots to return to work.

Mansi said that the strike is affecting not only the airline but the ground service staff also.

There are two flights of Jet airways from Chandigarh airport each day which are cancelled for the third consecutive day today.
