Jennifer Lawrence nude photo hacker jailed

LOS ANGELES: George Garofano, 26, a man who hacked into hundreds of iCloud accounts of Hollywood stars and others before leaking their nude photos across the internet has been sentenced for 3 years.

He was one of four people charged in the 2014 hacking scandal, in which private photos of Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kirsten Dunst and others were published online.

Both Apple and the FBI stepped in to investigate the matter. In a statement at the time of the hacking, Apple said the company was “outraged” and that “privacy and security are of utmost importance to us.” Following which Apple encouraged its users to use stronger passwords for their accounts.

The hackers used a phishing scheme that sent emails appearing to be from Apple security accounts that asked for usernames and passwords, said authorities.
