Jeevan Reddy urges Oppn parties to support bifurcation

Hyderabad, July 02: Senior Congress leader and former minister Jeevan Reddy on Friday urged all political parties in the state to write to the Srikrishna Committee expressing support for a separate Telangana state

Talking to media person, Mr Jeevan Reddy said that Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas had revealed the Congress’s future plans for the state during his speech made at Nizamabad on Thursday.

In that speech Mr Srinivas had said that if he wins from Nizamabad, he would become the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. He had further said that before 2014, the Telangana statehood dream would be realised and two different Chief Ministers, one for Telangana and one for the remaining region would be in office.

Mr Jeevan Reddy, referring to the PCC president’s speech said that the PCC president had revealed plans for the future. He said that the opposition could follow the Congress’s example and decide on how to split their respective parties into two separate units.

The Congress leader also said that it was time for the opposition to set aside their resistance to the separate Telangana statehood issue and announce their support for bifurcation of the state.
