Hyderabad, January 26 (INN): Former Minister T Jeevan Reddy on Wednesday criticised the yatra taken up by the Telugu Desam Telangana Forum demanding national status for Pranahita Chevella project.
Talking to reporters at the Public Gardens, Jeevan Reddy said that the TDP leaders have taken up the yatra in view of the by-elections in the Telangana region. He reminded that the TDP raised the issue of Babli project during the last by-elections in the Telangana region. He dubbed the TD’s yatra as ‘by-election yatra’ and alleged that it was now trying to draw political mileage from the Pranihita Chevella project, he said.
Jeevan Reddy alleged that TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu was never serious about the projects in the Telangana region when he was in power for almost nine years. Several projects including Yellampally project, SRSP, Devadula project or the Pranahita Chevella project remained ignored during the TDP’s regime. He said when the Congress pressurised the TDP Government for the completion of Devadula project, it started SRSP project and left both the projects incomplete.
Alleging that the TDP discriminated the Telangana projects in release of funds during its rule, the former minister said that the TDP was now trying to take advantage of Pranahita Chevella project when the State Government has almost resolved the disputes with the Maharashtra Government.
Jeevan Reddy demanded that Chandrababu Naidu should openly support the formation of separate Telangana if he was so concerned about the Pranahita Chevella project. (INN)
