Jeelani Banu’s translations released

Hyderabad: Selected short stories of Padmashree Jeelani Banu were translated in Telugu by Mr. P.V.S. Murthy “Mahek” translated these short stories in Telugu.

Sahitya Akademi awardee Ms. Volgo released the book at a function held at Telugu University yesterday. Mr. K. Srinivas, Editor, Andhra Jyoti, Telugu Daily presided over the function. Mr. N. Madhukar, Executive Editor, Nava Chaitanyua publishing House. Mr. Bhanu Murthy actor, Prof. Ashraf Rafi, former Head of the Dept. of Urdu, OU addressed the gathering.

Jeelani Banu’s short stories depict the sentiments of the people who migrated to Pakistan as a result of partition of India in 1947. They represent Ganga-Jamuna culture of Hyderabad. Her short stories have been translated in many languages.
