JEDDAH FLOOD PROBE : Top municipal officials held

Jeddah, December 28: Eight senior officials from the Mayor’s Office in Jeddah were asked to accompany police on Sunday following investigations into the Jeddah flood disaster.

The move came only 24 hours after some 30 officials and developers were detained for alleged involvement in building on flood routes.
According to eyewitnesses, around 25 officers entered the mayoralty head office at 10 A.M. Sunday.

Among the eight were an assistant to the mayor, four department heads, and a former head of the Projects Department. The Notary Public Office has, meanwhile, revealed that correspondence has been exchanged with the flood probe committee over property deeds.
Ibrahim Al-Zahrani, head of the Notary Public First Office, said that the contact had been made through the Ministry of Justice representative on the committee to look into property deeds for east Jeddah areas and the manner of their approval.
