Patna: Bihar Chief Minister and JD-U president Nitish Kumar has given the go-ahead to the party’s Jharkhand unit to contest the Assembly polls in that state on its own.
A team of Jharkhand JD-U leaders recently met Niitish Kumar at his official residence here and it was decided that the party would contest all seats in the 82-member (one nominated) Jharkhand Assembly.
Jharkhand JD-U state president Salkhan Murmu said the party would organise a big conference in Ranchi on August 25. “While all parties, including the BJP, have failed to fulfil the promises made to the people of Jharkhand, the JD-U will deliver on its promises,” said Murmu.
In Bihar, the JD-U is a part of the BJP-led NDA.
