Haryana, July 03 : The Jan Nayak Ch Devi Lal Vidyapeeth, Sirsa, has ensured a totally ragging-free campus for the students, Vidyapeeth Director General Prof Kuldip Singh Dhindsa said today.
Prof Dr Kuldip Singh Dhindsa said, ”To curb the menace of ragging activities on campus, we have constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee and any student found indulging in ragging will face strict disciplinary action and fine as per the University/AICTE/ UGC norms.” Besides, an Anti-Ragging Squad had also been constituted comprising Registrar as Chairman; Chief Warden; CEO Dental College; Principals of all constituent colleges; Two Senior Faculty Members from College of Engineering; Warden Girls Hostel; Warden Boys Hostel; the Security Officer; and two representatives from the parents of our students and two media persons.
A special monitoring cell, including the Principal and two senior faculty members, had also been constituted at the college level to ensure zero ragging in Vidyapeeth.” Prof Dhindsa said ragging had been totally banned in the Vidyapeeth campus and zero tolerance to it would be adopted.
”Anyone who notices ragging or is being ragged in the campus could immediately complain to any of the members of the Anti- Ragging Squad or the special Monitoring Cell on ragging,” he said.
Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Anti-Ragging Committee, the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging would be in the range of suspension from attending classes to rustication from the institution and a fine to the tune of Rs 25000, he added.
As a precautionary measure, banners indicating zero tolerance on ragging had been prominently displayed in all teaching blocks, hostels, library, cafeteria and main gate of all colleges and parking areas.
Helpline numbers of all concerned officials had been displayed on all notice boards of the hostels. The students and their parents were asked to submit an undertaking indicating that they had gone through the relevant instructions/regulations against ragging as well as punishments at the time of admission.
Orders had also been passed to each Director/Principal of the constituent colleges of Vidyapeeth to submit a weekly report during first three months of the new academic session 2009-10 on the status of compliance with anti-ragging measures.
