JC condemns delay over action against rebel MLAs

Former minister J C Diwakar Reddy on Wednesday expressed displeasure over Speaker Nadendla Manohar not initiating disqualification proceedings against the Congress MLAs, who switched loyalties to YSR Congress party.

Talking to media persons, Diwakar Reddy said that the Speaker’s inaction would encourage the rebel MLAs to go scot free and they would resort to disrespect the House with their actions. Stating that he was totally unhappy up with the present assembly session, he said he might not contest from Tadipatri Assembly constituency in the next elections.

Expressing serious concern over the frequent adjournment of the House while neglecting discussions on important public issues, he said the chaotic assembly sessions were an indication of serious political uncertainty prevailing in the State.

Responding to a question on Rajya Sabha elections, he said that the Congress party was not in a position to take action against its members if they violate the whip and vote against the opposition party’s candidate. However, he clarified that the was not a contender for the Rajya Sabha seat. (INN)
