Jayanti Gohil, Best Bakery accused died in Arthur jail, Mumbai

Jayanti Gohil (57) an accused in 2002 Best Bakery case, who was also allegedly involved in Ajmer blast case in 2007 passed away after a long ailment and heart attack in Arthur Road Central Jail in Mumbai on the night of Sunday.

Vadodara Court has acquitted him in 2004 in Best Bakery case but had disappeared when the trail started again in Mumbai. Later NIA arrested him and was handed over to Maharashtra ATS in 2013.

His family members blamed that he was not given timely medical aid. They have an apprehension that the life of Jayanti’s son Ramesh is in danger. He is also in prison. The family sources indicated that several surgical operations were performed on him at J.J. Hospital, Mumbai since 2013. He was not given proper medical treatment. They did not accept the statement of Jail Official that Jyanti died of cancer. Jyanti daughter, Sonal blamed that her father was shifted to jail two days after the surgery. She also said that her father had told her that jail authorities did not gave him food for 4 weeks. If proper treatment was give to him, he would have survived.
