Jayalalithaa promises ‘gradual’ prohibition in TN if voted back to power

Chennai: Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa on Saturday kick-started her state-wide election campaign where she promised that prohibition would be introduced gradually if her party, AIADMK comes back to power.

Introducing the 21 AIADMK candidates contesting in Chennai, Tiruvellore and Kanchipuram districts in a mega rally, Jayalalithaa listed out her government’s developmental initiatives and said the Chennai Metro rail network would be further expanded.

She denied the allegations that the government has been insensitive during recent flood and said various relief and rehabilitation efforts including free housing and financial aid were given to those affected.

Prohibition is one of the most vociferous demands in Tamil Nadu ahead of the May 16 Assembly election.

Jayalalithaa is scheduled to address 15 public rallies spanning a period of 36 days in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry till 12th May. (ANI)
