Jaya should explain details of wealth case: Karuna

Chennai, May 11: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa has a responsibility to explain to the people, details of the Rs 66 crore disproportionate asset case, after the Supreme Court today dismissed her petition seeking quashing of the case.

Jayalalithaa had resorted to the practice of seeking adjournments on one pretext or other in the case, which had dragged on for 13 years, Karunanidhi said in a statement here, adding that the delay was “unheard of in legal history”.

He said even after the Supreme Court had directed that all documents relating to the disproportionate wealth case be transferred by the state government to the Bangalore Special Court within six weeks, the then AIADMK government took nearly two years to do so.
