The Indian Army on Monday stated that Army Jawan, Appala Raju, who committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in the premises of the Garrison Mehdipatnam left no suicide note.
“Incidentally, he was one of the over 70 persons being interrogated by the Police in the boy ablaze case in Mehdipatnam, and the Army is fully cooperating with the SIT in the investigations,” the Army said in a release.
“Investigation teams of both the Army and the Police have reached the incident site and inquiry of the incident is in progress. His suicide should not be taken as an indication of his involvement in the case as wide speculations are being raised, questioning the involvement of the deceased soldier in the Mehdipatnam incident. Probably, the Jawan was under immense mental stress due to the ongoing interrogation,” said the Army.
Further, the Army said it was fully cooperating with the Police and wants the truth to come out at the earliest.
