Srinagar, June 21: An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide with his service rifle while another died after he fell off from a hillock during a routine patrolling in twin districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Lance Naik Mohd Rafiq allegedly ended his life yesterday by shooting himself with his service weapon inside his unit room on Dhar road in Udhampur district, police sources said here today.
The jawan, took the extreme step in depression and his body had been sent for post-mortem, they said.
Meanwhile, in another incident, an army jawan died on the spot when he accidentally slipped from the hillock in Fagwari Dhobha Dokh area of Rajouri district. The deceased identified as Romesh Singh (Belt number-4087151P) of Uttrakhand of 48 Rashtriya Rifle. He lost his balance and fell off from the hillock last evening while he was on official duty, police added.
A case has been registered in this connection, they added.
