Jashn-e-Rekhta: Delhi gears up to celebrate the timeless glory of Urdu Language

New Delhi: Much-loved Urdu festival — Jashn-e-Rekhta, is all set to begin from December 8, here at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium. The three-day event will host over forty poets, authors and artistes. Mushairas, panel discussions and book exhibitions will mark the fourth edition of Jashn-e-Rekhta.

The visitors will experience Urdu and its creative richness in all forms — from Dastangoi, mushaira and ghazals, to qawwali, calligraphy, and Urdu prose and poetry readings.

Javed Akhtar will host a panel discussion comprising of eminent personalities like Waheeda Rehman, Shabana Azmi, Ira Bhaskar and Muzaffar Ali, entitled ‘Kuch Ishq Kiya Kuch Kaam Kiya’, on the depiction of Muslim culture in Indian cinema.

Chronology of Urdu poetry, music and history, including folk tales related to Laila-Majnu will be narrated by actor Annu Kapoor.

Renowned actor-director Aamir Raza Husain will recite the verses of the 20th century poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

Shubha Mudgal, Gopi Chand Narang, Ashok Chakradhar, Neelesh Mishra and Manoj Muntashir among others will also grace the occasion.

The 3-day event will conclude on December 10 with a Qawwali.
