Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday said the merger of Janata Parivar would not affect his party in any manner.
“Even if there is merger of Janata Parivar, it won’t affect us (BJP) in any way,” said Sushil Modi.
“We are ready to fight with them in every form, whether they fight in merger or not,” he added.
The BJP leader further said the people of Bihar don’t want the ‘jungle raj’ of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prada Yadav to be in the state at any cost.
Samajwadi Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav has said that the merger of the erstwhile Janata Parivar parties is not possible before the Bihar Assembly polls due to technicalities.
He said the best course of action for Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) would be to fight the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls under a seat-sharing arrangement.
He said the parties will lose their election symbols if they merge now and that would cause confusion among the voters.
The merger of the Janata Parivar parties was announced last month with a declaration that Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav will head the new entity. (ANI)
