Jana Sena announces Telangana unit

With an eye on the  next general elections in 2019, Jana Sena chief and noted Telugu Actor Pawan Kalyan today took a key decision to strengthen his party in Telangana. He reportedly appointed Telangana unit leaders who are expected  to take the party activities into the people.

The Jana Sena, which recently got recognition as a political party by the Election Commission, has on Sunday announced three members to steer Telangana unit, B Mahender Reddy, V Shankar Goud and Hari Prasad. While Shankar Goud is in charge of Telangana State unit, Mahender Reddy will coordinate the party affairs and Hari Prasad will look into media affairs and publicity. Pawan Kalyan is to announce AP unit leaders soon, it is learnt. Belonging  to Kapu community,  Pawan Kalyan is weighing pros and cons of the present political situation in Andhra Pradesh and wants to make it to active politics. The Jana Sena decision comes at a time when Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham is fighting for the cause of his community.

The Jana sena is to make a sensation of sorts in the politics if Kapu community supports his leadership in future. His elder brother Chiranjeevi unsuccessfully contested the 2004 elections with Praja Rajyam and merged it into the Congress only to become a central minister later on. However Chiranjeevi is not likely to change loyalties and will not join Jana Sena, APCC Chief N Raghuveera Reddy said.

In Andhra Pradesh

With this the Jana Sena took a shocking decision by distancing away from the ruling TDP in the state. Though he recently supported Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in a few issues, he opposed land acquisition and capital city construction causing problems to the land givers. With this it is clear that he will take on the TD and opposition YCP in AP in the general elections to be held in 2019. It is pertinent to note that a few days ago he announced to shift his base to Andhra Pradesh and to enroll in the voter list in Eluru of West Godavari district.(NSS)
