Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy on Tuesday offered to resign from the post of leader of Congress Legislature Party in view of recent defections.
Expressing serious concern over the decision of Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Miryalguda MLA Bhaskar Rao and other leaders, Jana Reddy said that some leaders were joining the ruling TRS for meagre gains. He claimed that he was offered the post of Chief Minister in the then united Andhra Pradesh only to suppress the Telangana sentiment. However, he has sacrificed the post only for the sake of statehood.
Jana Reddy said that the Central Government should make tougher laws to deal with cases of defections. He said he was very upset with the defections and was ready to quit the post anytime.
Leader of Opposition in Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir was also present in the press conference. (INN)
