Senior Minister from Telangana region K Jana Reddy has launched a signature campaign in support of separate Telangana state.
As part of it, he met the Deputy Chief Minister Damodara C Raja Narasimha at the Secretariat on Wednesday, along with another Minister from Telangana region Basavaraju Saraiah.
Jana Reddy has said he is contemplating to hand over a letter to the AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi with signatures of Ministers and MLAs of the region, seeking separate Telangana State formation. Jana Reddy is of the view that the signatures of Ministers be collected first, and then the signatures of Telangana MLAs.
It is said that pressure was being mounted on the Telanana congress leaders, following the Union Home Minister Susheel Kumar’s statement two days ago that there was need to study the Telangana issue, and the comment of Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal that Shinde’s observation made it clear that Telangana was not possible now. In view of this, Jana Reddy is reported to have decided to launch the signature campaign. (NSS)
