Srinagar, January 08: Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the only road link between Kashmir and rest of the country, was closed today for vehicular traffic following fresh snowfall near Jawahar Tunnel in Qazigund area of the Valley, official sources said here.
The authorities decided to close the 294-km arterial road link late in the evening as fresh snowfall began in the areas close to Jawahar Tunnel, the gateway to Kashmir, the sources said.
They said the fresh snowfall had rendered the road slippery.
Snowfall was also reported from Gulmarg and Tangmarg in Baramulla district and several areas of Kupwara district in north Kashmir, the sources said.
