Shillong : Jammu and Kashmir’s only international coach, Sajid Yousuf Dar, who was the head coach of the Indian women’s national football team for the recently held 12th South Asian Games, ensured that his team clinched gold by beating Nepal in the final 4-0.
The tournamentsaw Dar’s team in top form. Its unbeaten run in the event is a testimony to the fact that the Kashmir Valley has been able to encourage such a tallented football coach as Dar despite the region facing turmoil.
Today, Dar is regarded as one of the country’s most talented football coaches. He had earlier enjoyed successful coaching stints with India’s Under-17 and Under-14 squads.
“It has been a remarkable journey so far. I want to thank all the people who have supported me, especially my employer, the University of Kashmir, and the state football association. I vow to continue the good work in the future as well, Dar said.
All India Football Federation (AIFF) Technical Director Scott Odonil said, ” By the look of it, we all see this dynamic coach leading from the front. This is a mere start. So much more is expected from Sajid. With his charisma and charm, the odds are in his favour to make it into the elite, and making his state proud.” (ANI)
