New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama Hind has released 8 prisoners from Tihar Jail. The prisoners couldn’t afford to pay fine hence were forced to stay behind bars. The party released the prisoners irrespective of their religion. Besides Muslim prisoners, non-Muslim prisoners were also released.
A function was held at Tihar jail where Jail director, General Ajay Kashyap described the service rendered by Jamiat Ulama Hind and its General Secretary Maulana Mahmood Madani on humanitarian grounds as exemplary. Addressing the function he said ‘I feel hurt when a prisoner cannot pay the fine and stay in jail, now that the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has come forward to help them, who would be happier than me?’ He hoped that other organizations will also follow suit.
The prisoners who were released include, Chumman S/O Prakash, Dheeraj S/O Pannalal, Bheem Sn S/O, Motiram, Kalu Bhai, S/O Rajendra, Sanjiv, S/O Talasha, Uday Ratra, S/O M Ratara. The prisoners also include a 75-year-old man resident of Badayun who was in jail for 18 years. He became emotional during the function.
