Jamiat-e-Ahli demands killer of Shah to be exposed

Srinagar, April 13: Jamiat-e-Ahli today demanded the killer of its slain chief Moulvi Showkat Ahmad Shah to be exposed before the public and decided to form a committee to carry out an independent probe into the assassination.

Addressing an all party meeting called by Jamiat, the acting chief of the religious outfit Ghulam Rasool Malik said an hour long peaceful protest would be held this Friday outside the Gaw Kadal mosque where Shah was killed.

The meeting was attended by nearly all the separatist groups of the Kashmir Valley.

Hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is placed under house arrest, was represented by his spokesman Ayaz Akbar.

The spokesman for the hardline Hurriyat leader in a rare case warned against allowing the sectarian conflict in Pakistan to affect the Kashmiri society.

“The winds that have started coming from Pakistan will prove dangerous. It has to be stopped,” Akbar said.
