Jamia team won prestigious World Photography Award

New Delhi, February 17: A team from Jamia Millia Islamia has won the Asia round of the prestigious World Photography Award after defeating participants from nine other countries of the region.

Zubair Ahmed and Akshat Jain of the institute”s AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC) and their teacher Farhat Basir Khan will now compete with five other teams from other parts of the world for the title.

“The team, through their creativity and passion, has won the Asia round of the World Photography Award,” a University spokesperson said. The team will now go to Cannes where it will attend workshops and meet top photographers from across the world besides competing for the title, the spokesperson said.

The theme for the year 2010 was ”War and Peace”. The team from Jamia won applause for its imagery — ”A Few Good Men — Give Peace a Chance” and ”Whose War is it anyway?”.
