Jamia team wins Asia round; to vie for global title

New Delhi, February 16: Two students and a faculty of Jamia Millia Islamia have made the institute proud by winning the Asia round of the prestigious World Photography Award and now they will compete with five other teams from other parts of the globe for the title.

Zubair Ahmed and Akshat Jain of the institute’s AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC) and their teacher Farhat Basir Khan through their creativity and passion won the Asia round of the World Photography Award by defeating participants from nine countries, a spokesperson of the University said today.

The team will now go to Cannes where it will attend workshops and meet top photographers from across the world besides competing for the title, the spokesperson said.

The theme for the year 2010 was ‘War and Peace’.
