Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has been ranked at 3rd position among the top 25 Central Universities and at 17th rank among top 100 universities by Outlook-ICARE India University Rankings 2019, published in the latest issue of the weekly magazine.
With an overall score of 82.28 JMI is placed after University of Delhi (DU), which is on top with an overall score of 91.93, and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at second place having an overall score of 83.75 among the central universities.
According to the magazine, the rankings evaluate institutions based on parameters such as Faculty Student Ratio (FSR), Faculty with PhD (FWP), Papers Per Faculty (PPF), Citations Per Paper (CPP) and Inclusiveness & Diversity (ID).
JMI has been placed at 3rd position among the top 25 central universities having FSR score of 97.7, FWP score of 84.2, PPF score of 82.1, CPP score of 79.6 and ID score of 65.1.
According to the magazine, institutions are awarded an overall rank depending on the number of points achieved through the evaluation, and their key strengths in specific parameters. This has been designed with valuable feedback from the industry.
Expressing her happiness over consistent improvement in various rankings, Vice- Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar said it is a testimony to the fact that the university is continuously focusing on high quality teaching and research, publications and providing good infrastructure besides
promoting inclusiveness, diversity and promoting gender sensitivity and equality on the campus.
The magazine said all assessments are based on objective data-most of which is obtained from reliable third-party sources and there is zero dependence on voluntary submissions.
It said that wherever information has been taken from institutional websites, a dedicated data validation and verification team has verified and ensured its authenticity and validity, thus assuring parents and stakeholders of the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Recently, JMI has been ranked at 12th position in the country by MHRD’s National Institutional Ranking Framework(NIRF-2019), retaining its earlier position. In the coveted Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World Rankings also it retained its position at 751-800 with its research intensity being described as ‘very high’. JMI has also improved its ranking in the London-based Times
Higher Education(THE) Asia University Rankings-2019 and Moscow -based Round University Rankings(RUR)2019.
