Johannesburg: Former England batsman James Taylor has announced his engagement just weeks after he had to cut short his international career due to a serious heart condition.
Taylor, who played for county cricket for Leicestershire and then Nottinghamshire, proposed to his girlfriend Josie Naylor last week, Sport24 reported.
Taylor told a Britain television programme on Wednesday that he proposed her when they went to the picnic spot where they both had their first picnic.
The former English batsman said he handed her the ring and kept it very simple.
The 26-year-old, who played seven Tests and 27 ODIs for England, had retired after being diagnosed with Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Arrhythmia, a condition that stops the right side of the heart pumping blood properly and may lead to sudden death.
Taylor scored more than 9,000 first-class runs at an average above 46 and hit 20 centuries in his short career. (ANI)
