Jamaica: Ajinkya Rahane smashed a half-century as India pushed their lead to 229 runs at lunch on Day Three of the second Test against West Indies here at Sabina Park in Kingston on Monday.
Resuming at overnight score of 358-5, Rahane (unbeaten 74), along with Wriddhiman Saha (47), went on to steer the side’s innings as the duo shared a modest 98-run stand for sixth wicket to propel visitors to 425-6.
Earlier, KL Rahul struck a blistering 158-run knock besides sharing a huge 121-run stand with Cheteshwar Pujara (46) to put India in a driver’s seat. Skipper Virat Kohli’s 44 was other notable contribution for the visitors.
Meanwhile, West Indies were bundled out for mere 196 in their first innings as India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin finished with an innings haul of five for 52.
Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami also clinched two wickets apiece while Amit Mishra chipped in with a wicket. (ANI)
