Jamaat-e-Islami Central Office sealed in Srinagar, exclusive pictures inside

Srinagar: After the central government on February 28 banned Jamaat-e-Islami (J-K) under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act for a period of five years, authorities on Thursday sealed the Jamaat-e-Islamia Central Office at Batamaloo in Srinagar.

The Office was sealed almost a week after GOI declared Jamaat-e-Islamia Jammu and Kashmir an “Unlawful Organisation.” Eyewitnesses said that a large number of forces arrived at Central Officer and Sealed it.

After the central government banned Jamaat-e-Islami (J-K), National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah urged the central government to reconsider the decision and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti warned that banning Jamat-e-Islami will have dangerous consequences.

Earlier while speaking to the media she stated that “You cannot imprison an ideology or an idea. There are thousands of Kashmiris in villages and cities associated with the Jamaat. It is s socio-religious organisation.
