Jalayagnam critics have CM boiling in rage

Rangampet, June 20: Lashing out at the critics of Jalayagnam, the Chief Minister said that behind the broadside was a hidden agenda of YSR’s detractors both in the party and outside.

Speaking at a public meeting after laying the foundation stones for power substations and check dams in the Narsapur constituency in the district, the chief minister said it was unfortunate that leaders from the Congress chose to attack the programme which was intended to irrigate parched lands.

“Rajasekhara Reddy had wanted irrigation facility for 1 crore acres and took up 86 projects on all major rivers in the state. Strangely, there are people who are unhappy when happy things take place. Such people even wonder why there should be rains when there is a good monsoon,” he said and warned that the government would not sit with its eyes and ears shut but would take appropriate action.

In a subtle appeal to people to support the Congress in the by-elections in Telangana districts, chief minister K Rosaiah has exhorted them to stand by the government because of the development it had brought about. He wanted the people to understand how much development had been brought about by the present government.

“Before you vote, look at how development used to be in the past and what it is like now,” he said. The chief minister complimented minor irrigation minister Sunita Lakshma Reddy, who represents Narsapur in the Assembly, for her zeal to serve people. “There is a bright future for Medak district since there are chances of promoting industries and agriculture there,” he said.

Those who attended the meeting included ministers J Geeta Reddy (Information Public Relations), B Satyanarayana (Panchayat Raj) and Zilla Parishad chairman M Balaiah.
