Kakinada, March 02: Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas S. Jaipal Reddy has assured Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju that steps would be initiated to allocate natural gas to the Vijjeswaram gas turbo power station at the earliest.
According to an official release issued by the office of Dr. Pallam Raju here on Tuesday, Mr. Jaipal Reddy responded positively to a memorandum submitted by Dr. Pallam Raju seeking immediate restoration of the supply of natural gas to the power station. Dr. Pallam Raju explained in detail about the closure of the power plant of 100 MW owing to lack of supply of natural gas for the last four months.
He said many public and private industries depending on power being supplied from the plant were forced to down the shutters. Farmers who were cultivating their lands with the outflows of the plant too were suffering a lot due to the closure of the plant.
