Stating that there was no need to introduce Telangana Bill in the State Assembly, Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy has said the tradition has introduced during the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre while creating three States in north India.
Speaking to the media at Lake View Guest House here on Saturday, Jaipal Reddy wondered at the ongoing agitation in the Seemandhra region. He said it was not correct on the part of Seemandhra people to behave in a pessimistic manner. He said he has respect for the Seemandhra people, who were highly knowledgeable people.
The Union minister said he was ready to discuss the issues being raised by the Seemandhra people. He said Hyderabad city would not go anywhere even after division of the State. “People of Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Adilabad migrate to Mumbai for eking out livelihood. People of Chittoor go to Chennai and those of Anantapur go to Bengaluru for the sake of livelihood. In the same manner, anybody can come to Hyderabad for the sake of greener pastures”, he added.
He said Charminar was built 400 years ago and it is still there and goes nowhere. Similarly Hyderabad goes nowhere, he said, adding every citizen’s rights will be protected as per law. Stating that right to property was incorporated in the Constitution, he said even after division of the State, the laws will be same in the Telangana State.
Stating that he was a nationalist, Jaipal Reddy said there is a solution to every problem. He said there would not be water wars after the division of the State as alleged by some leaders because inter-state water tribunal would be constituted and it would look after distribution of river waters to both States.
Stating that the agitation in the Seemandhra region reflected the fears of Seemandhra peopl
e, he said there was no need to be panicked about anything. Opining that the problems raised by Seemandhra people can be solved, he said creation of separate Telangana State was not a victory or defeat for any one.
The Union minister said the Group of Ministers (GoM) appointed by the Centre to find solutions to the post-bifurcation problems, he said Hyderabad city was an international city in view of business. He assured that he would not allow any injustice meted out to the Seemandhra region till he was alive. He said there was no need for the Seemandhra employees to fear about the division of the State. In fact, the division of the State would cement the unity of Telugu people. (NSS)
