Jagan’s bail petition hearing adjourned to Dec 24

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing to December 24 on the statutory bail petition of YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case.

Sources say that the court has completed the hearing on the arguments from both sides – Jagan and CBI and it is expected to deliver its verdict on Monday.

Earlier, continuing the arguments for the second day on Thursday, Jagan’s lawyer Padmanabha Reddy contented that his client was being detained illegally for such a long period. He said it was unconstitutional to keep Jagan imprisoned as 90-day period of his custody was already over. However, the CBI, represented by Additional Solicitor General Haren P Raval opposed Jagan’s bail petition on the grounds that the investigations were still on and he might tamper with the evidence or influence witnesses.

Justice B Seshasayana Reddy, who heard the petition, is likely to deliver the verdict on December 24.

Jagan is lodged in Chanchalguda Jail since his arrest by the CBI on May 27.
