YSR Congress Party honorary president Y S Vijayamma has assured the party cadres that her son and party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would come out soon and counseled them to remain patient.
The YSR Congress has staged a dharna at the YSR Stadium in Pulivendula, demanding compensation to farmers who lost their crops due to drought.
Addressing the party ranks on the occasion, Vijayamma has said there was no response from the government for the fight of the people for water from Chitravati. She has lambasted the government stating that it had no intention to help the farmers who were in dire straits.
Reminding that farmers of several districts had already declared crop holidays, she said this situation might extend to some more districts, because of the callous attitude of the government. She also said that 20 lakh workers were rendered unemployed, because the government was unable to provide power to the industries. Vijayamma has advised the government to open its eyes at least now and resolve the power crisis.
The Pulivendula MLA has ridiculed the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy by stating that he was claiming all the innovative welfare schemes of her late husband Rajasekhara Reddy as his own. She has assured that Jagan would come out soon and stand by the farmers.
She said the government had no commitment towards the welfare of any section, and much less the farmers. Stating that there was always a way where there was will, she has lamented that the government lacked that will. She has criticized the present government for not even mentioning about the name of YSR when the Bhupalapali project was inaugurated. She has also ridiculed the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for showing concern towards farmers and BCs who he had badly neglected during his own rule. She said the people had lost faith on both the ruling Congress and the opposition TDP.
