Jagan to tour cyclone affected areas

YSR Congress Party President and Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will tour the Hudhud Cyclone ravaged areas of north coastal Andhra from Tuesday and oversee the relief and rehabilitation works and has postponed the October 16 State-wide protest programme owing to the natural calamity.

“Jagan Mohan Reddy will leave for Rajahmundry tomorrow and reach Vizag in whatever mode of transport that is available and tour the battered Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. He will stay put there to oversee the relief and rehabilitation works, meet the affected families and help them get faster relief,” party senior leader Dharmana Prasada Rao told reporters here on Monday.

As the Hudhud Cyclone has left a trail of destruction, Jagan Mohan Reddy has called up on the party cadre to connect with the people and help them in getting faster aid. Farmers, weavers, small and petty business establishments and other sections have been badly affected as Visakhapatnam has bore the brunt of the cyclone which crossed the coast on Sunday.

The local leaders will organize the tour programme of Jagan Mohan Reddy from Vizag and upwards and this tour will in no way affect the government’s operations. On the other hand, his tour will help the affected people to get the aid quicker, he said.

When asked if he will meet the Prime Minister, who is scheduled to tour the area, Prasada Rao said: “it depends on the situation but our mission is to lend a helping hand to the needy in the cyclone ravaged region.

Due to the cyclonic storm, the proposed protest programme of the Party against the loan waiver by the TDP government stands postponed, he added. (INN)
