Jagan slams Naidu for not filing counter when SC set aside AP claim over krishna surplus water

Launching a scathing attack on TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, YSRC chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy blamed the former for not filing a counter petition when Supreme Court set aside the rights of Andhra Pradesh State on surplus water of Krishna river.

Addressing a press conference at his Lotus Pond residence, Jagan alleged that Chandrababu Naidu had failed to implement the Bachawat Tribulal verdict. As per the Bachwat Tribunal judgment in 1973, the State has every right on surplus water of Krishna river.

Criticising Naidu, the YSRC president said the former was chief minister of the State for nine years, but he did not take up any project though “We had surplus water”.

Taking a dig at TDP president, Jagan said it was Chandrababu Naidu, who made Deva Gouda as Prime Minister and even played a major role at the Centre. When the Karnataka government approached the apex court on surplus water, the Supreme Court delivered judgment in favour of Karnataka in 2000 setting aside the rights of Andhra Pradesh on surplus water of Krishna. But Naidu, who was chief minister then did not care to file any counter on the verdict of the apex court, he reminded. “It was unfortunate that Naidu has been leveling baseless charges against a great leader late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who tried his best to construct projects for claiming right on surplus water.Referring to State bifurcation issue, Jaganmohan Reddy said though he has strength of only three MPs, but constant efforts are being made to keep the State united.
