Jagan sent to judicial custody till June 11

The CBI court on Monday remanded YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy to judicial custody till June 11 in connection with the alleged disproportionate assets case.

While remanding him to judicial custody, the court rejected the CBI’s plea seeking 14 days custody of Jagan for further questioning. The court also rejected the petition of Jagan Mohan Reddy seeking bail. The CBI’s counsel contended that Jagan might tamper with the evidence and influence the witnesses, if he was released on bail.

CBI counsel Ashok Bhan alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy has sent the bribe amount abroad using hawala channels and got it re-invested in his businesses. He also alleged that Jagan never cooperated, in true sense, in the investigation during the three-day questioning period.

“Jagan can no longer masquerade as a victim of CBI probe. He cannot assail CBI for being victimised. He has hoodwinked the people of a huge sum of money. We will now show the people about his swindling of money. He cannot seek public sympathy. He has deprived poor people and caused them irreparable loss and in turn enriched himself by dubious mechanism by sending the funds abroad and getting the same invested in his companies,” the CBI’s counsel alleged.

Following directions from the court, the officials shifted Jagan Mohan Reddy to Chanchalguda Jail under tight security. The court also directed the jail officials to allot special cell for Jagan in the jail.

Earlier, in morning the CBI officials produced Jagan in the court under tight security force and installed CCTV cameras around the court complex to keep vigil on the movement of people.
