Jagan Reddy not cooperating in probe, says police

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Mahesh Chandra Laddha on Friday alleged that YSR Congress Party President YS Jaganmohan Reddy refused to corporate in the police investigation pertaining to the case in which he was attacked by a man at the airport.

“Our Investigation Officer had gone to him but he refused to cooperate. He has said that he does not believe in the police investigation. We will be informing this to the court,” Laddha told ANI.

Reddy, who is the leader of opposition in the Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly, was attacked with a sharp object at the Visakhapatnam airport on Thursday by a canteen worker in the airport.

“Yesterday, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) handed over the accused to us with some papers and all seized materials. In the evening, we formally arrested him. We will be seeking his remand for further investigation in the upcoming week,” he said.

Laddha also added that the accused has confessed that he has been involved in the act. The accused also told the police that the 11-page letter was written by three people including himself.

“Out of the 11-page letter that has been seized, he is saying that nine pages were written by his sister, who stays in his village. One page is written by his co-worker and the last page is written by him. We have examined him. We are examining him further. The team has gone to the girl. Will be able to share more details only when the girl is back,” he told.

As of now, the police official confirmed that the letter was written by three people out of which two are confirmed while the third person needs to be ascertained.
