Proddattur, April 26: YSR Congress president and candidate YS Jaganmohan Reddy campaigned for the byelections in Velupucheruvi, Uppaluru, Konapuram, Karchuguntapalle, Chillamkuru, RTPP Colony, Pata Kalamala, Malepadu, Potladurthi villages in Muddanuru, Yerraguntla and Jammalamamdugu mandals on Monday.
Imitating his father’s style, Jagan said he is contesting the elections to ‘see smiles on the faces of people’.
He reiterated his description of byelections for Pulivendula Assembly and Kadapa Parliament seats as a fight between YSR District (Kadapa) and Delhi. He called upon people to vote for the ceiling fan symbol.
No new pensions or houses have been issued by the present government, Jagan Mohan Reddy said.
He added that YSR strived hard for securing water to the dry lands of Rayalaseema, especially to Kadapa district through welfare schemes.
Jagan said YSR had sanctioned Rs 363 crore in the state budget for handloom weavers’ development, while the present government has allocated a mere Rs 36 crore.
He assured to introduce Janata Scheme and allocate more funds for development of the handloom sector.
