Guntur, July 29: The suspended PCC general secretary and close supporter of the Kadapa MP, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr Ambati Rambabu, on Wednesday felt that the loss of charismatic leader would definitely reflect in the results of the by-elections in 12 Assembly constituencies in Telangana region.
Predicting that all the TRS MLAs, who had resigned from their posts for Telangana cause, would be re-elected with handsome majority in 11 segments, Mr Rambabu said the election results would have been different if the late chief minister YSR’s son was allowed to tour in the Telangana region.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Mr Rambabu said that the senior Congress leaders did not take the by-elections serious and most of them stayed away from the election campaigning. He also alleged that there was a conspiracy behind the hurdles to Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Warangal tour. He also alleged that the senior Congress leaders of Telangana ganged up with the TRS leaders against Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Mr Rambabu asserted that the loss of charismatic leader Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was the main reason for the present uncertainty in the State Congress. After YSR, his son, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was the only charismatic leader in the State. “The ongoing Odarupu Yatra has proved beyond doubt that Mr Jagan was only crowed puller in the State Congress”, he added.
Making another controversial statement, Mr Rambabu said “neither the Chief Minister Rosaiah nor the PCC president D Srinivas was equal to Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in pulling crowds. In the present and future, no leader will provide effective rule as that of the late chief minister. Mr Jagan would alone emerge as a strong leader like YSR”, he said, adding that the people and 156 MLAs wanted to see Mr Jagan in chief minister’s chair after YSR’s death.
He said that it would be great to the Congress, if it wins even one out of 12 seats in the by-elections. This situation might not have arisen, if YSR was alive today. Reminding that earlier by-elections were conducted in 16 Assembly constituencies with the resignation of the TRS MLAs, he pointed out that the Congress had won some seats then because YSR campaigned then.
Indirectly referring to the statement of Mr Rosaiah that it would be a bonus if the Congress wins any seats and there would be no threat to the government even though no seat was won, Mr Ambati questioned as to why the Congress party fielded candidates in the byelections.
Alleging that there was a conspiracy inside and outside the Congress party to corner Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr Rambabu exuded confidence that the Kadapa MP would emerge as stronger leader. “After the Emergency, some forces had tried to corner Indira Gandhi, but she vanquished all her critics and emerged stronger. The same would happen in the case of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy too”, he added. Mr Rambabu also made it clear that there was no need for Mr Jagan to float a party of his own or mount pressure on the Congress high command. “There was no truth in the allegation that public was being mobilized to Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s meetings by paying money”, he added.
On Bayyaram mines issue, he reminded that YSR family made it clear that they had no link with Bayyaram mines and Rakshana Steels. Some forces were wantonly indulging in mudslinging against Mr Jagan, but they would not work, he added.
To a query on his suspension from the party, he quipped “I will react on it at an appropriate time”.
