Jagan to observe deeksha in Hyderabad on Feb 18

Hyderabad, February 04: After the success of his earlier deekshas to register protest on issues pertaining to farmers, Krishna river water tribunal award and hike in prices of petrol and other essential commodities at Vijayawada, Delhi and Visakhapatnam respectively, former Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has now decided to undertake deeksha in Hyderabad on the students’ fee reimbursement issue.

Jagan along with scores of students and their parents would observe deeksha in the state capital on February 18 to protest against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government’s failure to release funds towards fee reimbursement.

Prior to it, he would console the family of G Varalaxmi, a Dalit engineering student, who had allegedly committed suicide for delay in release of scholarship amount by the government, on February 5.

Informing this to newsmen here, Jagan loyalist Gattu Ramachandra Rao said that the time and venue for the proposed deeksha would be announced in a day or two. He strongly condemned minister Botsa Satyanarayana’s statement that Varalaxmi had suffered accidental burns when an LPG cylinder exploded, and that her name was not included in the list of 143 SC students who had applied for the scholarship.

He demanded the government to order an enquiry into the episode, and urged the minister not to ‘insult’ Dalits by making such remarks.
