Jagan not returning to Congress: Ambati

Hyderabad, January 21: Former APIIC chairman and late YSR’s close aide Ambati Rambabu today brushed aside the rumours that former Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy would return to the Congress before the 2014 general election. On the contrary, he said, leaders of the ruling party would join Jagan’s new political party as the Congress would be ‘finished’ in the state by then.

Talking with newsmen here, Rambabu said the state and Central leaderships of the Congress were not in a position to take action even against those who violated the party’s discipline. For the first time in its history the Congress had not seen such a weak leadership, he remarked. “Congress MPs have themselves declared that the party is about to sink. But the party is almost a sunken boat in the state. It has not gone down completely and is able to float and stay in power just because of the late YSR’s efforts.”

Replying to a query, he alleged that the Congress high command had ‘insulted’ the state MPs, both from Seemandhra and Telangana regions, by not drafting them into the Union cabinet in the recent reshuffle. The party leaders and workers should realise the injustice meted out to the state, he said.

Responding to another query, Rambabu claimed that there was no need for Jagan to compete with other leaders like Chandrababu Naidu or Chiranjeevi since he himself was a ‘trend setter’ in undertaking various programmes relating to public problems. Jagan was going ahead fighting on public issues with sincerity, he claimed.
