Warangal, December 17: Within the massed ranks of the Mahagarjana, developments on the Jagan Mohan Reddy front, important though they may be for AP, appeared to hold no interest for the assembled throng. The man who carried a Samaikya Andhra placard into Parliament last year and thus became a red rag for Telangana separatists today raises no more than a quizzical eyebrow.
A sampling of the multitudes at Mahagarjana in Hanmakonda here today brought out clearly that they have no thought for the impact he may have on state politics. Most of them felt he is not a force to reckon with in Telangana while others preferred to wait till he makes his stand on Telangana clear. If Jagan takes a pro-Telangana stand, the people in the region would welcome it but not necessarily go overboard.
S Manjula, a beedi worker from Korutla in Karimnagar, said: “I remember seeing Jagan on TV holding a placard in support of Samaikya Andhra in Parliament. Let him say what he wants to, on Telangana.
Even if he says he is for Telangana, it will not convince us.’’ Younger elements in the crowd were more emphatic in their rejection of the J factor. ‘’If he wants to enter our region, he would have to say Jai Telangana. For that matter, no political party can survive here in any other way,’’ said K Balarm, an employee of a private company in Morthadu mandal in Nizamabad district.
According to Sayyed Pasha, an auto driver from Zaheerabad in Medak district, a huge crowd did come to see Jagan when he came over to attend a wedding recently.
“But it was out of curiosity. When all of Telangana has only one demand, why would people support him? He is from Rayalaseema and is known to support Samaikya Andhra.”
