Jagan MLAs set to be disqualified today

Hyderabad, January 31: Speaker Nadendla Manohar is likely to announce his decision on the disqualification of 16 rebel Congress MLAs and one PRP MLA in next 48 hours. While the 16 MLAs refused to appear before the Speaker, PRP MLA Shobha Nagi Reddy had questioned the legality of the whip issued by her party as it was merged with the Congress.

In the back drop of this situation, whips of both the parties presented themselves along with their respective lawyers before the Speaker for the final hearing and also to give clarifications, in case of any objections by the 17 members against whom petitions have been moved for voting against the ruling party in the Assembly during the December 5 no-confidence motion.

Congress Whip Kondru Murali Mohan said he had deposed before the Speaker on Monday and clarified on certain issues raised by MLAs, including the non-receipt of the party whip by Rayadurg MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy.

Legislators facing the disqualification petition include A Amarnath Reddy, G Srikanth Reddy, K Ramachandra Reddy, Konda Surekha, Balineni Srinivas Reddy, Dharmana Krishna Das, Golla Babu Rao, B Gurunatha Reddy, K Chenna Kesava Redy, Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy, M Prasad Raju, M Sucharitha, Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, K Srinivasulu, Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, Tellam Bala Raju and Bhuma Sobha Nagi Reddy.
