AICC General Secretary Digivijay Singh on Friday predicted that YSRCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy might return to the Congress fold in future.
Participating in Meet The Press programme organised by Hyderabad Press Club at Somajiguda here on Friday, Digvijay Singh said that Jagan’s was having the DNA of Congress party. His grandfather and father (YSR) remained Congress loyalists till their last breath and Jagan too began his political career from the Congress party. Therefore, he might return to the parent party.
Digvijay Sigh also expressed displeasure over former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy leaving Congress to float his own party. “We are very disappointed by Kiran Kumar Reddy. He had promised to abide by the decision of the Congress High Command and assured that he would never leave Congress party. He had also ruled out floating a new party,” he said adding that the Congress party respect all leaders who stood by the decision of High Command although they differed on the issue of AP’s bifurcation.
The AICC General Secretary reminded that TRS Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao had promised to merge his party after the formation of Telangana. However, he said that KCR’s decision not to merge the party has surprised the Congress High Command. However, he said that he respects the political decision. He also did not ruled out the possibilities of alliance with the TRS and said AK Antony Committee would explore the option if TRS agrees for it.
Digivijay Singh also listed out the promises and packages announced by the Centre for both Telangana and Seemandhra regions. He said both the States have the potential to register a speedy growth. He made a specific mention that all cases registered during the Telangana statehood agitation should be withdrawn.
He informed that he had completed the deliberations with the leaders of Telangana region and the Seemandhra Committee members would meet on Saturday to discuss the poll strategy. He said the entire process of finalising election strategy would be completed by March 20.
Telangana PCC President Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Working President C Uttam Kumar Reddy were also present. Hyderabad Press Club President R Ravikanth Reddy welcomed the guests. (INN)
