TRS leader and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao has lambasted Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal for stating that the State government would resolve the Telangana issue if the people voted for his party in the ensuing by-elections.
Talking to the media here on Saturday, Harish Rao described Lagadapati as a ‘maniac”. He also expressed his indignation at the remarks of Minor Irrigation Minister T G Venkatesh that if Jagan won the by-elections, the State would be divided. Describing both Lagadapati and Jagan as integrationists, he said that in their view there was no difference between the two of them. He also faulted the Telangana Congress leaders for not responding to the remarks of Lagadapati Rajagopal. He said that for them their party became more important than Telangana. He questioned how Congress would be able to contest in Parakala constituency of Warangal district in Telangana. He said that both the Congress and the TDP were opposed to Telangana. He demanded an explanation from Lagadapati for his remarks.
Meanwhile, Telangana MP Rajaiah also expressed his displeasure at Rajagopal. He said that if he had guts, he should come to Parakala and campaign for the Congress party.
Speaking to the media at Warangal on Saturday, he said that if Lagadapati came to Parakala, he would know the strength of the Telangana people. He charged Lagadapati with crossing tolerable limits. He said that while it was Sonia Gandhi who was to concede Telangana, why Rajagopal should speak about the subject.
It may be mentioned here that Lagadapati said that he would ensure that the Union government took a decision on Telangana if the people ensured victory of the Congress in the ensuing by-elections. He said this solution would satisfy 80 per cent of the State’s population. (NSS)
