Vijayawada Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal has said that AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi had asked Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy not to go on “Odarpu Yatra” with huge rallies and with big convoys.
Lagadapati participated in ‘Prajahitha Padayatra’ in Rayadurgam constituency of Anantapur district on Saturday as part of his electioneering. He alleged that Jagan had organized ‘Odarpu Yatra’ in a manner that one cannot differentiate the change between the ‘marriage’ and ‘death’. He said that he would make the Centre announce United Andhra if the people cast their votes to Congress candidates ensuring their victory. He said that the Centre would make the announcement in August. He also said that the Congress would introduce a resolution in favor of United Andhra in the Assembly.
Lagadapati said that Congress leaders have succeeded in refuting the allegations of the Opposition that the State government was not implementing the welfare and developmental schemes properly. He said that victory of Congress candidates was easy if the party workers explained about the welfare schemes being implemented by the State government by visiting every house.
Lagadapati alleged that YS Jagan and YSRCP honorary president YS Vijayamma, who were saying that they would follow the footsteps of former chief minister Dr YSR, were saying differently against Dr YSR’s aim of keeping the State united. “It is best example to expose their dual standards”, he added. He said the Congress party’s majority had fallen down to 156 seats in 2009 elections because the corrupt practices of YS Jagan.
Lagadapati’s Prajahitha Padayatra, which was launched at Prathipadu constituency, ended in Rayadurgam constituency on Saturday. (NSS)
